Arboreal Salamander
26-Nov-08
In wet weather, Arboreal salamanders emerge
from far underground to soak up moisture.
Lung less, the Arboreal salamander respires entirely through its skin.
Large eyes, broad muscular head, massive jaws,
ideal for hunting prey in dark underground tunnels.
Square toes and a prehensile tail, this 5" female is typical of the species.
Fragile, avoid handling.
Arboreals retreat far underground once the rainy season is over.
